A true multicultural, multi-country, multi-style band, NORTNSUR, gives us a tasty musical melting pot. Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, 2000s hits and other amazing song covers from all times carefully “spiced-up and cooked” with their own twist. Arrangements where the vocal harmonies are front and center and a fusion of rhythms and languages (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese), all of this makes this band somewhat unique, as their objective is to bring the music of the North to the South and vice versa. There is zero intention to carbon-copy original tunes, on the contrary, they make their own interpretation of such songs with a huge respect and they even incorporate to the arrangements their own new parts, which flow from A to Z through their growing audience with all sorts of reverberating melodies and intoxicating sing-along refrains.

The name NORTNSUR also encapsulates the mix of nations, the nature of the band members, their origins and personal stories, their own projection and their musical interests. With a various musical backgrounds and influences, we have Alejandra Valenzuela (Colombian) in vocals and hand-percussion; Marino Arias (Colombian) in guitars, vocals; Jorge Lara (Mexican) in piano, keyboards, acoustic guitar, vocals; Mario Duguay (Quebecois) in bass, vocals; and Humbe Fernandez (Cuban) in drums, percussion, vocals, arrangements and musical direction.
