Founded in 2003, OTTAPAE has introduced and promoted Korean traditional music and culture in Ottawa through Pungmulnori. Pungmulnori is a type of Korean traditional folk music that includes drumming, dancing, singing. Drumming is the central element of Pungmul with 4 Korean traditional instruments, Janggu (double-headed hourglass drum), kkwaenggwari (small handheld gong), buk (barrel drum), and jing (gong).
Together with Canadian youth and adult members, we are passionate about sharing this exciting and energetic art of Korean tradition.
