John Tenasco

John Tenasco is an acclaimed contemporary Algonquin artist from the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg reserve in Quebec. Blending abstraction with realism, his vibrant canvases explore spirituality, impermanence, and the profound connection between Indigenous communities and the land. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa and has received prestigious honors, including the Suzanne Rivard-Lemoyne Prize. Known for his controlled linear strokes and gestural movements, Tenasco translates natural elements into allegorical visions. His notable public works include eight animal sculptures created for the National Capital Commission, highlighting deep spiritual ties to air, land, and wildlife.
