Tracie Budge

Visual artist

Tracie is an emerging artist from Gatineau, Quebec, whose work is deeply inspired by family and nature. For the past 28 years, she has shared her knowledge as a teacher, introducing students to a wide range of visual arts practices and Indigenous cultural traditions.

Her father was born and raised on the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg Reserve, located north of Ottawa. Tracie’s connection to the Algonquin Nation is rooted in her family’s rich history and deep relationship with the land. She has been particularly influenced by her grandmother, Marguerite Brascoupé-Budge, a highly respected Elder, healer, artist, musician, and interpreter.

Over the past five years, Tracie has been drawn to experimenting with macro photography, developing a particular fascination with the delicate interplay of window frost, texture, and light. The lens as her unique voice captures landscapes of their own, revealing original one-of-a-kind patterns, unexpected colours, and fleeting moments of transformation. Her work reflects a deep connection to the spirit of creation and her gift for being in tune with the intimacy and beauty of nature.
