Erik Alvaro

Erik Alvaro is a Filipino-Canadian dance artist and choreographer. An active member in the Ottawa dance scene, Erik mainly involves in the dance cultures of Punking/Posing/Whacking, Hip Hop, House, Locking, partner dancing and Filipino Folk dance.Gaining knowledge and experience through training with the Culture Shock dance organization and as well at The Flava Factory Urban Dance School. Erik's endeavors have given him opportunities to train and perform in cities such as Peru, Los Angeles, Washington D.C, Toronto and Montréal.

I am a determined Filipino artist, educator, and historian devoted to honouring the legacy of past and present dance architects before me alongside my own lived experiences towards building a collaborative tomorrow. Through my artistic practice, arts advocacy, and community engagement, I strive to ignite safe artistic dialogue among my Ottawa community.
