Art+ Fall Showcase

.png)
The ART+ Fall Showcase will celebrate equity, diversity, inclusion and pluralism (EDIP) in the arts, including local artists from all Western and non-Western art disciplines. It would be an opportunity to create cultural exchanges between artists belonging to equity-seeking groups (ESG) and the local community, including but not limited to Indigenous, Black, people of colour, immigrant, refugee, disabled, 2SLGBTQI+ and women+ artists. In addition, each showcase will have a capacity-building component to continue building sustainable artistic practices for artists belonging to equity-seeking groups.
We have an exciting lineup of local artists and artists groups: Yulia Lisitsyna(Visual Arts), Tamiris Paes Souza (Violin), Esmeraldas de Colombia (Colombian Dance), Stuti Mukherjee (Indian Dance), Lubna Mousa (Visual Arts), Jack Tzekov (Visual Arts), Camila Reimers (Visual Arts), Bonita Eloise Ford (Performance), Christina Tzekova (Visual Arts), NortNsur (Music).

Christina Tzekova
Christina Tzekova was born in Bulgaria, where she studied Fine art, Pedagogy of teaching art for young children, and Ceramics. Currently she lives and works in Ottawa, Canada. Christina’s work is influenced by Bulgarian folk art, such as woven rugs, aprons, and embroidery. Her passion derives from her fascination to explore ancient symbols, colors, and stories that were used ages gone by to inform, communicate, and convey ideas of people who created them. Christina works with different mosaic media such as stone, glass, and custom made ceramic tesserae.
Tamiris Paes Souza
Tamiris Paes Souza is a professional violinist and singer based in Ottawa, Canada. She holds a Masters' degree in violin performance from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor's degree in violin performance from the University of the State of Sao Paulo. Her main violin teachers were Liliana Chiriac, Luiz Amato and Yehonatan Berick.
Lubna Mousa
I first discovered my artist self at a very young age in Baghdad, Iraq. Since then, I have moved to many places and met many faces to which I attribute my work inspiration. My paintings are reflections of a personal journey that strives to showcase my path that led me to where I am today. Colors fascinate me, they always have. Rather than submitting to my architectural engineering background, I gravitate more towards abstract shapes to capture non material intangible ideas and thoughts.
Yulia Lisitsyna
In her more than 25 years-spinning practice of a watercolour artist, graphic and ornamental designer, she put her skills and experience into teaching at Ottawa School of Art (since 2016), where she shares with students her ability to create lustful watercolours, to explore the picturesque manner, applying with bold and colourful acrylic brushstrokes and precise, meticulous drawings.
NorNsur
A true multicultural, multi-country, multi-style band, NORTNSUR, gives us a tasty musical melting pot. Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, 2000s hits and other amazing song covers from all times carefully “spiced-up and cooked” with their own twist. Arrangements where the vocal harmonies are front and center and a fusion of rhythms and languages (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese), all of this makes this band somewhat unique, as their objective is to bring the music of the North to the South and vice versa.
Jack Tzekov
My fascination with Eastern Orthodox iconography dates back to my childhood. Later on, as an art student in Bulgaria, I had the opportunity to work with a restoration team on cleaning and restoring 17th and 18th century icons from churches and monasteries across the country. This experience inspired my first copies of original icons.
Esmeraldas de Colombia
We are proud to call ourselves Ballet Esmeraldas de Colombia, like the green precious gemstones because Colombia produces the most emeralds for the global market, as well as the most desirable.
We are a not-for-profit dance group which frequently presents authentic and traditional folkloric Colombian dances in Canada since 1991.
