ART+ Summer Exhibition

These powerful artists represent a tapestry of identities and experiences spanning Anishinaabe, Vietnamese-Canadian, Amazigh, Ivorian-Canadian, and Colombian roots. Through painting, photography, drawing, and sculpture, they explore memory, identity, resilience, and connection to the land.

Event Details:

📍 Location: Atelier, Arts Court Building (67 Nicholas St, Ottawa, ON K1N 7B9) 
🖼 Vernissage: 6–8 PM (Free) 
Kick off the exhibition with an evening of art, conversation, and community. Meet the artists, explore their work, and enjoy light refreshments. 

🗓 July 12 
🎨 Artist Tour: 2–3:30 PM (Free) 
📍 Location: Atelier, Arts Court Building 
Join a guided tour with the artists as they share the stories and inspirations behind their pieces.

  Zaagaasige Giizis

Zaagaasige Giizis (they/them/she/her) is a queer Anishinaabe artist who creates work that is focused on unsettling the arduous interface of settler colonialism.

  Linh VH Nguyen

I am a queer Vietnamese-Canadian artist living and creating on the unceded lands of the Anishinaabe Algonquin people.

Zineb Allaoui

I’m Zineb Allaoui (she/her), a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Morocco, now living in Ottawa, Ontario.

Dereck Bassa

Dereck Bassa graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in Communication and media studies in 2022.

Natmarú Gamboa

Nelson Gamboa is an artist originally from Colombia. He studied at the Art Student League of New York, Academy of Art Canada, George Brown College, Toronto School of Art and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
